AirAsia Thailand has announced a new route connecting two northern cities in Thailand – Chiang Mai and Udon Thani.

From October 3, the Thai-based AirAsia Group carrier stated the new Chiang-Mai-Udon Thani route will start with four weekly flights (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).

According to AirAsia Thailand, the new route will also offer convenient onward travel to Vientiane, Laos.

Suraphan Homkachon, Chiang Mai Station Manager for AirAsia said: “Chiang Mai and Udon Thani are beloved destinations for both Thai and international travelers. By launching this new Chiang Mai–Udon Thani route, AirAsia offers a valuable, efficient option.”

“For those in Chiang Mai, this is a golden opportunity for easier access to Udon Thani or onward to Laos via Vientiane. From Udon Thani, travelers can now reach Chiang Mai directly during peak travel season — it’s a new gateway for exploration.” added Suraphan

The new Chiang Mai and Udon Thani route will be AirAsia Thailand's ninth domestic route from Chiang Mai including Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi/Don Mueang), Khon Kaen, Hua Hin, Krabi, Phuket, Hat Yai, Surat Thani, and now Udon Thani. In addition, the airline operates three international routes from Chiang Mai – Hanoi, Taipei, and Sapporo (via Taipei).

To Udon Thani, AirAsia Thailand operates flights from both Bangkok-area hubs and Phuket.
